EBION

ORGANIC BEEPRODUCTS

It is one of the most important apicultural plants, as it helps the bees to grow again after winter. A flower honey of great taste and nutritional value, very rich in vitamins. Its harvested between April and May, depending on the winter. Its pollen is very tasty also, considered as one of the most nutritious. Its crystallized soon after its collection.

Spring Heath - Erica Arborea

Red fir - Abies cephalonica

It is harvested in altimeters over 800 meters during June . Long lasting rainfalls, heat waves or cold stop the honey making process. The honey is thick, rich in proteins, amino acids etc, with a great taste, does not crystallize. It may contains flower honey of spring Heath (the bee hives have been grown on it before its movement to the firs) as well as blackberry, wild strawberry, Melissa officinalis, origanum etc., due to the rich apicultural flora of the region. Also it may contains chestnut tree honey as its honey gathering beginning coincides with the end of the fir.

Our production of the summer of 2009 won the 1st price of its category at the BIOLMIEL 2009. (ITALY- organic honey contest)

Chestnut tree - Castanea sativa

It’s a self sown tree growing in altimeters beyond 600meters . It blossoms better during June and July if May is not too rainy. The high summer temperatures and/or rainfalls may stop the honey making process. Honey and pollen of a great nutritional value is collected, as it’s a combination of flower and tree nectar. Its colour can be light or dark brown, very rich in several elements (potassium, varium, magnesium, manganese etc) with a special strong taste and aroma.

It blossoms on altimeters 300-500 meters of Arta during October. September rainfalls is a needed precondition for a successful production, in combination with low rains or no NW winds in October. A flower honey with intense aroma and taste, deep red colour, great nutritional value crystallizes soon after its harvest.

Autumn heath - Erica verticillata

The blossom of koumaria follows the autumn Heath and its often collected together from the bee hives. Its honey has also intense aroma and similar nutritional value, light cream colour and intense bitter taste. Rich in elements and vitamins, stimulant for the bees (and humans), so they collect its nectar intensively. It crystallizes soon after its harvest.

Koumaria - Arbutus Unedo
